Snowdrop Walk & Painting Workshop at Bank Hall
Snowdrop Walk & Painting Workshop at Bank Hall, Bretherton
Join artist Elle Morse for a workshop celebrating one of the earliest signs of spring: the snowdrop. This session is open to everyone, whether you have painted before or are completely new to it, and offers a seasonal experience that combines time outdoors with painting!
The workshop takes place at Bank Hall, Bretherton, a Jacobean manor house set within historic parkland and woodland. Once derelict, Bank Hall has been lovingly brought back to life through years of dedicated restoration and volunteer support. The building and its surroundings now offer a unique space and provides a backdrop for this spring celebration.
We will begin the session with a walk through the woodland to see the snowdrops, taking time to observe them growing naturally in the landscape. This walk is intended as a way to enjoy and gather inspiration before heading indoors to paint.
(Please note: there is important information about the walk, access and outdoor conditions later in this description.)
Back inside, we will start the painting session with an introduction to a range of techniques using gouache paint, such as blending colours and exploring different brushstrokes. After trying these techniques out, you’ll move on to creating your own snowdrop painting, using what you’ve learned in a way that feels right for you.
Throughout the workshop, Elle will be on hand to offer guidance, demonstrate techniques and support you as you develop your painting. The focus is on enjoying the process, experimenting with materials, and building confidence. The added bonus of leaving with a finished artwork that is uniquely yours. Homegrown snowdrops will also be provided as additional inspiration during the painting session.
